International Radiation Physics Society

The International Radiation Physics Symposia are one of the primary activities of the International Radiation Physics Society (IRPS), founded in Ferrara (Italy) in 1985. The Society seeks to promote global exchange and integration of scientific information related to interdisciplinary issues of radiation physics, including the promotion of theoretical and experimental research in radiation physics, research into the physical aspects of the interaction of radiation with inert or living material systems, education in radiation physics and the use of radiation for peaceful purposes.

Major topical areas of ISRP are: fundamental processes in radiation physics, modelling and simulation of radiation transport, new trends on radiation sources and detectors, radiation physics in material science, radiation physics applications to medicine and biology, radiation physics in space, earth and environment sciences, applications of radiation to cultural heritage.

The International Topical Meeting on Industrial Radiation and Radioisotope Measurement Applications (IRRMA) is a triennial event organized with the purpose of bringing together scientists and engineers from around the world who share an interest in radiation and radioisotope measurement applications. Professor Robin P. Gardner of North Carolina State University was the founder of the IRRMA series of topical meetings and chaired the first and fourth meetings in USA.

Major topical areas of IRRMA are industrial uses of radiation and radioisotopes and applications in diagnostic techniques, medicine, environmental sciences, art and cultural heritage. Special attention is devoted to Monte Carlo methods and the modelling of radiation transport, detection of threat material and contraband, nuclear safeguards, radiation protection, shielding and dosimetry, radiation effects on materials, radiation detection and measurements, radiation and radioisotope production with reactors and accelerators, and emerging nuclear technologies.

ICDA bring together scientists and engineers from around the world who share an interest in theoretical and experimental aspects of dosimetry, and on its applications in radiation protection, the environment, workplaces, medicine and other fields of human activity. Specific fields are: individual dosimetry and monitoring, computational dosimetry and phantoms, internal dosimetry and biokinetic models, biodosimetry, radiobiology and retrospective dosimetry, dosimetry for epidemiology, environmental dosimetry, radioactivity measurement and monitoring, micro- and nanodosimetry, Monte Carlo and hybrid methods in dosimetry, radiation protection and dosimetry in medicine, in industry, in NORM industries, dosimetry of radon exposures, low dose and protracted exposures, dosimetry in radiological and nuclear emergencies and accidents, radiation shielding and dosimetry at accelerators, dosimetry in space applications, neutron dosimetry, nuclear data and evaluation.
